I Have Been Tagged
Thomas from Mean Green Cougar Red saw some reason to “tag” me. I am supposed to come up with seven facts about me, I think.
1. I grew up in Batesville, AR. Batesville is the hometown of Mark Martin, the great NASCAR driver. I actually watched him race as a kid when my dad did the PA announcing. I love dirt racing thanks to all of this. Today, Batesville is home to one of the best dirt late model racers in the country as well as one of the best dirt late model race car builders.
2. Because I grew up in Arkanasas, I am a huge Razorback fan. I got to see the Hogs play as a kid, and I became hooked. I cheer the Razorbacks, and I enjoyed watching the basketball team upset Texas a couple weeks ago on TV. I don’t get to see the Hogs play often, so I am grateful when I do.
3. I am a licensed Baptist minister, for what it’s worth. I actually came to Fort Worth to go to school at Southwestern Baptist Seminary. Life happened. I can’t spend an entire blog explaining the kind of health problems that I have had over the last 12 years, but it has led to several surgeries, including one in San Francisco.
4. I did play football. I was a starter on my 9th grade football team, most of the year. I played right tackle. I didn’t start in high school, but I did play some. The college where I graduated does not have a football team. Well, they actually have a soccer team; does that count?
5. I am crazy about my brother’s kids. I don’t get to see them enough. His oldest is now a teenager, and I follow his athletic exploits as much as I can. The two girls are absolutely a treasure. The oldest girl gives me the scoop on everyone in the family. The youngest girl has began to become her own person, very artistic and introverted (compared to her sister anyway!).
6. I love cats. I always have. That’s not to say that I don’t like dogs, but I have always been a cat guy. I think I like to play with them and how they will cuddle with you, most of the time. Our cat is the prettiest cat in the whole world! Life would be much more boring with her.
7. I have become a coffee snob. I can’t just have Foldgers or Maxwell House anymore, although I like their commercials. I have to have Peets (I go to Tom Thumb just to buy it) and now a new roastery for me, Aduro. Aduro is a Fort Worth roastery and you can buy coffee from their website.
I am going to tag Harry Miers over at GoMeanGreen.com, John at Nebraska Sports Journal, Finch at SpitBloodTCU, Brian at IntheBleachers.net, Seth at Double T Nation, Kevin at Fanblogs.com, and Eddie at The Red Zone Report. Consider yourself tagged.
