It was great to be at the BCS game in person, but everyone watching on tv had a much better view of the game than I did. I sat in a section that was evenly split between Tide and Longhorn fans. From the outset, it was obvious that the Alabama fans (including myself) were feeling more tense and emotionally involved than those for Texas. Despite all of our past success, Tide fans always feel nervous.

When Saban called for the fake punt and then the screw up on the kickoff that later led to another fg,some around me were furious and ready to pack it in. I was however, confident we would come back when we held them to fg's, it could easily have been 14-0. Longhorn fans became despondent when McCoy had to leave the game, and believe it or not, Tide fans felt for him. We never want an opponent injured.

When Brown called the shovel pass that resulted in the weird interception and td before the half, the Texas fans sat stunned in disbelief, and so was I. Despite leading 24-6, no one around me was ready to declare victory. We have seen the Tide squander big leads in the past. And sure enough they did. The Tide play was so conservative in the 3rd qtr, Tide fans became bored and taken out of the game. All of us finally came alive again, nervously, when Texas closed to 24-21.

I was feeling very antsy, but still believed we would hang on. After the td after the fumble, we felt safe in celebrating the win and the Texas fans accepted the game was over. I can only speak for my section, but the Longhorn fans were gracious in losing and Tide fans gracious in winning. We al hope McCoy recovers and makes his mark in the NFL.

We were able to get closer to the field for the awards after the Texas fans left, but still could not see and hear as clearly as we would have liked. Everyone should go to the Rose Ball stadium at least once. The atmosphere and pageantry of college football is electrifying in that arena. But tape the game at home!

Thank you for the recognition! Yes, I will definitely make a report from the natonal championship game. Congratulations to John in Nebraska, I thought you were gong to take it. Alabama fans have a great apprecation and respect for the Cornhuskers.
