Pardon the Silence

The last time I wrote a post here at CFTT, I was watching TCU’s BCS dream go down the drain as they came within a short slant with a few seconds left in the fourth quarter from beating Utah in Salt Lake City.  That night I wrote a post about how the head coaching carousel was beginning to spin, or as I put it last week, the dominoes are beginning to fall.  I alluded to the possible Gary Patterson rumors that night, and little did I know there would be this huge story the following morning about Coach Patterson jumping ship to Kansas State which, of course, turned out to be completely false.  A lot has happened, but I wasn’t able to write because I had a stomach virus.  I will spare you the details, but I did not feel well at all.  Therefore, I was silent.

For those of you in the Fort Worth area, don’t forget that Bob Lilly will be signing copies of his book Thursday night at Borders Books in Fort Worth from 7 PM until 9 PM.

Pray for this Young Lady

I usually try to keep my posts as positive as I can.  This one isn’t really that positive, but it is necessary.   We all have our favorite TV anchors, reporters, meteorologists, etc.  So many of those folks make the news seem personable.  I know that there are several that I have come to like and respect over the past few years while living here in Fort Worth.  We usually wish nothing but the best for these folks.  How someone can go in to one’s home and violate them and commit acts of violence against them is beyond me.  But in the case of Anne Presley of KATV in Little Rock, AR, that is what happened.  Anne is a 26 year old news reporter for KATV, and apparently she is very well liked and a lovely young lady.  She was attacked in her home a few nights ago.

I grew up in Batesville, AR, and we usually watched the TV stations from Little Rock.  My family mostly live in Conway now, which is even closer to Little Rock.  No one want to see any thing like this happen to anyone, but this kind of crime to a public figure who is well loved is beyond comprehension.  Why would anybody do this?  Why?  I don’t get it.

I ask the Collegefootballtopten.com readers to be in prayer for Anne Presley and her family along with KATV and the community of Little Rock.  Below is a video from Good Morning America about that incident.

God Bless Anne

This is why I like college football!  An upset like this is week five.  Wow!  And, nobody saw it coming.  Great win for the Beavers.

Bob Lilly to Sign Copies of His Book in Fort Worth

Bob Lilly, former TCU Horned Frog and Dallas Cowboy, and, of course, NFL Hall of Famer, will sign copies of his book A Cowboy’s Life at the Borders Bookstore in Fort Worth on November 13, 2008.  Spitblood TCU ran a top 30 Frogs of All Time segment this summer, and Lilly came in at number 7.

Mark you calendars now for November 13th.  Lilly’s book, is now available at bookstores, including the Collegefootballtopten Bookstore as well as Borders.  The Borders store where Lilly will sign his book is located at I 30 and Hulen in the same shopping center with Central Market and across the street from Arlington Heights High School.

Breaking the Stranglehold

A quick look at the DFW Pickem to the left of the page shows that there is a four way tie for first place with leecoke’s picks right behind the four by only one point.  I am interested to see if the stranglehold at first place will be broken this week.  The Finch from spitbloodtcu.com holds the lead with last week’s tiebreaker.  The other tiebreaker belongs to me (cftt’ picks), but I am only playing for bragging rites.

This Week’s Games

TCU vs. SMU
DFW Duel: The Battle for the Iron Skillet

Boise State vs. Oregon

Georgia vs. Arizona State

LSU vs. Auburn

Miami vs. Texas A&M

I know who some of the people are who are playing the DFW Pickem, but I don’t know who all of you are.  I am curious about who you are and where you are from.  I’m thrilled to have 11 people playing.  If you are playing the DFW Pickem, and I don’t know who you are, please drop me an email telling me who you are and where you are from along with your Pickem name.  You can use the contact page on the website or respond to one of the emails I send to the group.  I really appreciate it.
